The Orillia Museum of Art & History (OMAH) is pleased to announce the newest publication by their inhouse imprint, OMAH Press. The History of Orillia in 50 Artefacts is a compilation of select artefacts from OMAH’s permanent collection complimented by writeups provided by local historians, educators, and community influencers.
“Orillia has an incredible local history community who have come together on this project to tell a history of our city based on artefacts in the OMAH collection. To tell this story it was important to us to include that community and their personal connections to these stories. The result is something I’m proud to have been a part of,” said, History Programming Coordinator, Lindsay Earle.
This publication complements the exhibition with the same title, curated by Lindsay. The exhibition is currently on view at OMAH until January 7, 2023.
There will be a book launch at OMAH on Thursday, December 15, from 5:30 to 6:30pm. The book is being printed by local business, Georgian Bay Printers, which was made possible by the support of Orillia and Lake Country Tourism.
The photography and design of the book were supported by The Philip Jackman Legacy Fund, created in memory of OMAH volunteer editor and graphic designer, Philip Jackman.
The book will retail for $30 (plus HST) and will be available to purchase at OMAH or through their online shop.
