Township Of Oro-Medonte 2022-2026 Council Inauguration And Appointment Of Deputy Mayor

Yesterday evening, the Inaugural Meeting of the 2022-2026 Township of Oro-Medonte Council took place at the Township Administration Centre. Mayor Greenlaw and members of Council were officially sworn into office by Township Clerk, Yvonne Aubichon.

Appointment of the Deputy Mayor formed part of the Inaugural Meeting council agenda. The process to appoint the Deputy Mayor followed By-Law No. 2021-094 passed on August 18, 2021 (view By-Law here: bit.ly/3uyxfPC), and Section 10 of Procedural By-Law No. 2017-165 as amended (view By-Law here: bit.ly/3F8M7ZT.)

Three (3) members of Council expressed interest in the seat, with two (2) members of Council appointed to the position for a term of two (2) years each; providing an opportunity for both Deputy Mayor’s to serve and experience the role throughout the 2022-2026 term of Council. Councillor Peter Lavoie was appointed as Deputy Mayor effective immediately and will serve until December 31, 2024, and Councillor Lori Hutcheson was appointed Deputy Mayor effective January 1, 2025 until the conclusion of this term of Council.

Mayor Randy Greenlaw commented that “tonight was a very special evening marking a new beginning for the community of Oro-Medonte. I look forward to working with the talented Council team, and Township staff, to ensure the community we call home continues to thrive, grow responsibly, attract investment, and remains a very desirable place to live, work and play.
