Members of the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with EMS and Fire, responded to a serious two-vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and SUV.
On Saturday, October 10, 2026, shortly before 4:00 a.m., Orillia OPP members, along with EMS and Fire, responded to reports of a wrong way driver involved in a serious collision on Highway 11 northbound, near South Sparrow Lake Road/Goldstein Road, in Severn Township.
As a result of the collision, one driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin.
Highway 11 northbound was closed in both directions between Grayshott Road and Goldstein Road/South Sparrow Lake Road for several hours while members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team assisted with the investigation. The roadway has since reopened.
