Snow squall warning issued for:
Midland – Coldwater – Orr Lake,
Current details:
Snow squalls are occurring. Under the snow squall bands, visibilities will be significantly reduced due to the heavy snow combined with blowing snow, and snow will quickly accumulate.
Hazards:
Total snowfall amounts of 20 to 35 cm by noon Monday.
Reduced visibility due to heavy snow and blowing snow.
Timing:
Now through Monday morning.
There may be a lull in snow squall activity later this morning, however snow squalls are expected to re-develop this afternoon.
Discussion:
Snow squalls are currently affecting the areas northwest of Midland this morning. These snow squalls are expected to weaken later this morning, however as winds shift to northwest this afternoon snow squalls will once again develop.
Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations.
If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
