The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 44-year-old man this morning in Orillia.
Preliminary information suggests the following:
- At approximately 6:45 p.m. on October 11, 2026, three men were arrested in relation a reported disturbance. They were transported to the OPP Orillia Detachment, searched and lodged in cells.
- At about 6:30 a.m. on October 12, 2026, during a routine check, staff noticed that one of the men was vital signs absent. Resuscitation efforts were initiated, and EMS took over care upon their arrival.
- The man was pronounced deceased.
Three investigators and one forensic investigator have been assigned to the case.
