The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 52-year-old man in Huntsville.
Preliminary information suggests the following:
- At approximately 9 p.m. on October 25, 2024, the man contacted police and advised that he had harmed two family members inside a Huntsville residence, and that he was in possession of weapons.
- The Ontario Provincial Police deployed a response team of crisis negotiators and the Emergency Response Team (ERT). The officers set up a perimeter around the home and were able to communicate with the man over the phone.
- Shortly after communication stopped, a drone was sent into the home to conduct a search of the residence. The bodies of two deceased women were located, as was the body of a deceased man.
Four investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case. The post-mortem is scheduled for Monday.
