A search warrant was executed on a Yonge Street, Midland home at 4:15 p.m. on December 14, 2022 as a result of an ongoing Controlled Drugs and Substance Act Investigation.
Members of the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) attached to the Southern Georgian Bay and Orillia OPP for the investigation. They were assisted at the scene by uniform members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment along with members of the OPP Central Region Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU).
As a result of the investigation, a quantity of Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Other Opioids along with Canadian currency and drug trafficking paraphernalia was seized.
The two people located were arrested and charged as follows:
Joseph Leclair 33 years of Midland
- Adult Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Adult Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than Heroin)
- Adult Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Other Drugs x 2
- Adult Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – In Canada
- Adult Failure to comply with Undertaking
The accused was held for a show cause hearing and will appear at a later date before the Ontario Court of Justice.
Michelle Vainer 26 of Midland
- Adult Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Adult Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than Heroin)
- Adult Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Other Drugs x 2
The accused was released on an undertaking and will appear at a later date before the Ontario Court of Justice.
