On Friday January 17, 2020 at 9:45 p.m. OPP, Paramedics and Georgian Fire fire crews responded to reports from a 9-11 caller of a snowmobile that went through the ice in the area of where Georgian Bay reaches Highway 400 at Island 40.
“We have not located the apparent snowmobile and possible patient or patients at this time” says Chad Dowell Deputy Fire Chief
Despite the efforts from Georgian Bay fire and emergency services, OPP and Trenton they were unable to locate any signs of someone going through the ice or anyone in the water. Georgian Bay fire can not confirm if there is or was anybody in the water, but used all the resources available.
Safe day to all first responders and for the patient or patients our thoughts are, hope they found a warm cottage close by and are okay! Ice travel is always concerning, traveling down the lake river you never know just how thick the ice is! ?
