Huntsville Resident Charged With Impaired Driving On Hwy. 17

A driver has been charged for impaired driving after being stopped by police.

On November 16, 2022, at 3:20 p.m., Nipissing West OPP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 17, West Nipissing.

It was determined that the driver was impaired. The driver was arrested and transported to the Cache Bay OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Matthew Simkins, 36-years-of-age, from Huntsville, was charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs andOperation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on January 5, 2023, in West Nipissing

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
