On Sunday June 27, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. the Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were alerted to and responded to a tragic event occurring at the Port Sydney rapids.
Muskoka Paramedic Services and the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department also attended.
Three young men were enjoying the day, when the unexpected happened while they were swimming. Two of these young men lost their their lives and the third is now recovering in Hospital.
The Huntsville OPP would like to thank all citizens and emergency services personnel that came forward to help on that day. Your selfless actions were those of a caring community, and that of heroes.
