Gravenhurst Chamber of Commerce Director Eric Daly Who was reportedly campaigning with Mayoral Candidate Jo Morphy is no longer listed on the Chamber’s website days after the Chamber board became aware of the situation and said they were reviewing the matter.
Muskoka411 received multiple tips regarding Gravenhurst Chamber of Commerce Director Eric Daly and his reported involvement in the campaign of mayoral candidate Jo Morphy.
According to information provided to Muskoka411, Daly attended an invitation-only campaign sign kickoff event for Morphy on August 24. During the first and second weeks of September, Daly was reportedly seen knocking on doors in local neighbourhoods while campaigning alongside Morphy.

On October 1, Daly also attended a meet-and-greet hosted by Morphy at Muskoka Beach House Restaurant in Kilworthy. According to witnesses, Daly was wearing his Gravenhurst Chamber name tag while attending the event.
Muskoka411 contacted Daly for clarification regarding his involvement in the campaign.
In an email, Daly stated, “I have stepped aside for 30 days.”
Daly did not provide specific dates for the 30-day period and did not provide Muskoka411 with a written statement confirming his resignation or leave from the Chamber.
Muskoka411 also contacted the Gravenhurst Chamber of Commerce regarding Daly’s campaign involvement and the Chamber’s position during the election.
In an email, a Chamber spokesperson said:
“The Executive Board has been informed and will be reviewing the matter. The Chamber as a whole remains neutral throughout the election process, and we look forward to hosting All Candidates Night.”
As of October 6, Daly remained listed on the Gravenhurst Chamber of Commerce website as a “Chamber Director.”
On October 7, his name was no longer listed among the Chamber’s directors.
The Chamber is hosting an All Candidates Meeting tonight at 6 pm inside the Opera House.
Muskoka411 has contacted the Chamber regarding the change to its website and whether Daly remains a director, has temporarily stepped aside, or has resigned. Any response received will be added to this story as we did not receive a response prior to publication time.
