A member of the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an 17-year-old with stunt driving after a traffic stop.
On February 8, 2026, just after 8:00 am, an officer of the Orillia OPP was conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 11 Northbound in Severn Township when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle’s speed was recorded at 144km/hr in a posted 90km/hr zone.
A 17-year-old from Orillia is facing the following charges under the Highway Traffic Act:
– Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform stunt – Excessive speed, and
– Speeding 50+ Km/h over posted limit
The vehicle was impounded for 14 days and driver’s licence suspended for 30 days. The driver is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
The OPP remind all motorists that excessive speed and aggressive driving behaviour pose serious risks to everyone on the road.
