0

On Tuesday, April 26 at 8 pm, Dr Samantha Green of Canadian Physicians for the Environment (CAPE) presents a webinar titled Human Health and the Climate Emergency. Dr. Green will discuss why the climate emergency is the single biggest threat to human health.

Dr. Green is a family physician at St. Michael’s Hospital and at Inner City Health Associates in Toronto. She is a Board Member with the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment, and Faculty Lead in Climate Change & Health at the University of Toronto’s Department of Family & Community Medicine. She advocates for climate action with the aim of improving the health of her patients and community

“Climate change is already harming Canadians’ health, causing increases in extreme weather events, cases of heat stroke, cardiorespiratory issues, and Lyme disease from ticks that can now survive in our warmer climate. We need to take action now,” according to the CAPE website.

CAPE is a non-profit group of physicians working to educate health professionals, the public and policymakers about the impacts of environmental degradation on human health. CAPE representatives speak as physicians from an evidence-driven and ethics-driven base.

The webinar is co-sponsored by Climate Action Muskoka (CAM), Environment Haliburton! (EH!), Seniors for Climate Action Now! (SCAN!), Climate Action for Lifelong Learners, Below 2°C, and the United Jewish People’s Order.
