Special markets happening June 9 and 23

The Orillia Farmers’ Market is excited to announce two special pop-up markets this spring and summer. The first market is happening on Sunday, June 9, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Leacock Museum. The second market is happening on Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Port of Orillia.

“Orillia and area is home to many talented artisans who showcase their products and goods at the Orillia Farmers’ Market. We’re fortunate to have more than 40 vendors coming out to the special pop-up markets, making it a great way to support local while having fun for the whole family,” said Mayor Don McIsaac.

June 9 – Leacock Museum Shop by The Lake

Nestled along the picturesque Lake Couchiching, the first pop-up market is taking place at the Leacock Museum (50 Museum Dr.) on Sunday, June 9, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The market will come to life with more than 40 vendors, featuring food, crafters, and artisans. The Orillia Secondary School Band will be filling the market with music.

Vendors at the market will include a vast array of familiar favourites and unique craftspeople, including those selling butterfly release kits, mobile dog nail trimming, on-site massage therapy, mediums, and more.

The Leacock Museum will be open for guided tours at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. (pre-booking recommended). A book reading is also planned for noon, 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. with author Jeremy John, who will be reading his humorous short stories. For more information about the book reading, visit leacockmuseum.ca.

June 23 – Lazy Sunday Market

Kick back and relax at the “Lazy Sunday Market,” a special pop-up market happening on Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Port of Orillia. More than 40 vendors will showcase their handmade crafts and other wares. Food vendors will also be on site bringing a range of culinary delights from hot dogs to Korean fare.

“We ran a smaller pop-up market last fall and have had people asking why we don’t do that more often – hence we are now back with bigger and better pop-up events,” said Diana Smith, Market Manager. “We would like to invite families to come and join us in the beautiful garden at Leacock Museum and on the shores of Lake Couchiching at the Port of Orillia. There is something for everyone; shop, picnic, have a lakeside massage, bring your four-legged friends, stroll or ride your bike down the winding pathway, or simply relax by the beautiful Lake Couchiching.”

As the summer gets underway, the Orillia Farmers’ Market is planning more special events. Follow the Orillia Farmers’ Market on Facebook or Instagram for updates and announcements.

The Orillia Farmers’ Market takes place every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Orillia Public Library (36 Mississaga St. W.). The Market is now outdoors for the season with more than 45 vendors signed up, including those offering local produce, cured meats, wine, baked goods, arts and crafts, and much more. Parking at the Market is limited; however, free parking is available during Market hours in Municipal Lots 7, 9 and 10.
