Southern Georgian Bay OPP were dispatched to the Mountain View Mall, Midland on May 29, 2023 at approximately 2:47p.m.after a male riding a black E-bike wearing a red helmet with a white back pack was observed removing retail store items from two separate retail stores within the mall. Through investigation, a suspect was identified as a person known to police and was located in another nearby retail store in the mall. Investigators also identified this person as the suspect in a theft of retail items from the nearby Full Line Electronics store that store security had called the police earlier in the day.
Officers arrested Cody Blain 30 years of no fixed address, Midland for the offences of
- Theft Under $5000- SHOPLIFTING (three counts)
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – in Canada (three counts)
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order (two counts)
The accused was released and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 6, 2023.
