The Orillia OPP have charged two people with theft and drug offences following a shoplifting investigation at a local business.
On June 19, 2022, just before 4 p.m., Orillia OPP officers were dispatched to a theft in progress from a Murphy Road area business. With the assistance of store staff, police were able to locate two individuals who departed the store and were evading store staff while attempting to leave the location.
Officers located two females at a vehicle and placed them under arrest. Police located the stolen items; and upon searching the females a small quantity of drugs was located.
As a result of the investigation, two people have been charged.
Sara Gardiner (age 33), of Orillia, was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of a schedule 1 substance- Cocaine
The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia, on July 26, 2022.
Cheryl Pawis (age 43), of Orillia, was charged with Theft Under $5,000
