The health and safety of visitors and employees are of utmost importance to Parks Canada and the Agency is following the advice, guidance, and requirements of public health authorities and experts in its operations and continues to make every effort to limit the spread of COVID-19. To comply with the Stay-at-Home Order in place in Ontario, all campsites, roofed oTENTik and cabin accommodations, visitor centres, washrooms and programming in Thousand Islands National Park and Georgian Bay Islands National Park will be closed up to and including June 2, 2021.
Docks and mooring facilities will remain closed over the May long weekend.
Following recent changes to provincial COVID-19 restrictions related to recreational boating, preparations are underway and docks and mooring facilities will reopen for boater day-use only on Friday, May 28.
- Overnight docking and mooring will not reopen on May 28 on the island parks and will resume in-line with camping.
- Boaters must respect the safety of others at all times by maintaining their distance from other visitors and Parks Canada team members; mask use is mandatory for situations where visitors will be within 2 metres of others.
- Gatherings that are not consistent with provincial COVID-19 restrictions are prohibited on Parks Canada lands and docks.
Parks Canada asks visitors to respect current provincial direction by remaining in their local area when undertaking outdoor recreational activities.
All Parks Canada reservations impacted by this delayed opening will be automatically cancelled and refunded in full. Visitors do not have to do anything to cancel their reservation.
