Just after 8:44 am on Monday, October 27, 2025, an officer conducting speed enforcement on Highway 11, observed a vehicle travelling northbound at an extremely high rate of speed. The vehicle’s speed as recorded at 155 km/h in a posted 90 km/h.

A 38 year-old male from North York was charged with Stunt Driving. The vehicle was impounded for 14 days and driver’s licence suspended for 30 days..

The driver is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia on January 7, 2026.

The OPP reminds all motorists that excessive speed and aggressive driving behaviour poses serious risks to everyone on the road. Officers will continue proactive enforcement efforts to promote safe driving across the region.

Members of the Crime Unit attached to the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a fraud investigation in February 2025 in relation to a complaint involving transportation and financial irregularities of livestock being transported from a farm in Tay Township and and sold at a Cookstown stockyard sale in September of 2024.

Through investigation, a suspect who was known to police was identified and a warrant for the arrest of the suspect was issued upon the completion of the investigation. An interaction on June 27, 2025, resulted in the warrant being acted upon by Toronto Police Service with an arrest.

Charged in relation to this investigation is Stephanie Redlick 28 years of North York with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

• Obtaining by False Pretence – Over $5000
• Fraud Over $5000
• Theft Over $5000
• Make Forged Document

The accused has been released and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on July 24, 2025.

In November of 2024, Orillia CSCU began investigating an individual for allegedly trafficking drugs in the City of Orillia. Utilizing investigative techniques police were able to observe consistent drug trafficking with this individual. On January 15^th, 2025, satisfied with the information gathered and observations, the Orillia CSCU with assistance from Orillia OPP conducted a takedown of a motor vehicle. Three individuals were arrested and safely brought into police custody. Two OPP vehicles received minor damage during the stop.

On December 1, 2024, while conducting traffic patrol on Hwy 11 South bound in the Township of Oro-Medonte, an officer of the Orillia Detachment conducted a traffic stop due to a vehicle traveling at a rate of 154km per hour in a posted 90km per hour zone.

Young Chan KIM, 25-year-old of North York, was charged with:

Adult Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform stunt – Excessive speed.

The driver received a 30-day licence suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days. The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

On October 5, 2024, at about 9:00 p.m., an officer from the Orillia OPP Detachment was proactively patrolling Highway 11 North Bound at Menoke Beach Rd and conducted a traffic stop. While speaking with the male driver police entered into an impaired investigation resulting in the request of an Approved Screening Device (ASD). As a result, a failure was registered, and the driver was arrested.

Parth Vora, 26-years-old, from North York has been charged with:
Adult Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
Adult Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia, to answer to the charges at a later date in October 2024. As a result of these charges, her driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and vehicle impounded for a period of 7 days.

On August 21, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m. officers stopped the vehicle for a sobriety check and observed cannabis readily available. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in officers locating a firearm, high-capacity magazine, over $500 of Canadian currency and suspected Fentanyl with an estimated street value of approximately $200,000.

On July 6, 2024, just before 7:00 p.m., officers of Orillia OPP were on general patrol on Barrie Road, in the City of Orillia. Officers observed a motor vehicle was travelling in a manner consistent with driving impaired, therefore a traffic stop was initiated. Upon speaking with the occupants, the officer noticed a cannabis joint in the motor vehicle, therefore the occupants were detained for further investigation. During the initial investigation, police located:

–      Police pepper spray

–      A prohibited knife

–      A conductive energy weapon.

–      Canadian Currency

Through investigation, officers formed grounds the occupants were trafficking in illegal substances. The motor vehicle was seized, and a warrant was obtained to search the vehicle fully.

The warrant was executed, and the following was seized by police:

–      A loaded Smith and Wesson revolver handgun

–      164.5 grams of fentanyl

–      6.9 grams of cocaine

–      37 hydromorphone

–      1 oxycodone

As a result of this investigation, Irshad Ahmed, 41-year-old of the City of Barrie has been charged with:

–      Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

–      Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition

As a result of an ongoing police investigation, members of the OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) from Southern Georgian Bay and Orillia Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police removed a quantity of suspected fentanyl from North Simcoe communities after arresting two individuals at approximately 1:30 p.m. January 31, 2024.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 93 in Springwater Township resulting in the seizure and the arrest of the two occupants of the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, Jahiem Billy, 22 years of North York as a result of this investigation is charged with the following offences contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.

• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin)
• Trafficking in Schedule I substance – Opioid (other than heroin)

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 7, 2024.

The passenger in the vehicle, Sherquan Remy, 20 years of Toronto has been charged with the following offences contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.

• Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin)
• Trafficking in Schedule I substance – Opioid (other than heroin)
• Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court (two counts) contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in custody for a bail hearing and will appear at a future date before the Ontario Court of Justice.

While at a local public building, the investigation revealed there was a victim of a minor assault, and that the suspect left the area before OPP arrived. While the investigation was still ongoing, the suspect returned to the location of the incident and was soon after arrested.

As a result of the arrest, a quantity of drugs was seized by police from the suspect.

• Suspected methamphetamine 118.9 grams
• Suspected cocaine 43 grams
• Suspected cannabis 10.4 grams

A 16-year-old from North York has been charged with:

• YPC Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
• YPC Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine
• YPC Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
• YPC Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
• YPC Assault

The name of the involved young person will not be released due to provisions contained in the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
