On March 10, 2026, at approximately 11:30 p.m. the West Parry Sound OPP were conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 69 in the Township of the Archipelago. Officers observed a vehicle swerving and stopped the vehicle to check the sobriety of the driver. Officers observed cannabis readily available to the driver. During a subsequent search of the vehicle officers located a firearm with an over capacity magazine as well as a quantity of drugs believed to be codeine.

Shaquille BROWN, 32 years-of-age of Toronto was charged with:

• Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
• Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited device or ammunition
• Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
• Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Failure to comply with a release order – Three counts
• Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime knowing possession is unauthorized
• Possession of a schedule I substance – Opioid

Jayden PINNOCK, 30 years-of-age of Shelburne was charged with:

• Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
• Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited device
• Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
• Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Possession of firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime knowing its possession is unauthorized
• Possession of a schedule I substance – Opioid
• Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

Both accused were held for bail before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on March 11, 2026.

On Sunday, January 25, 2026, at approximately 2:10 p.m., West Parry Sound OPP conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling 151 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a posted 110 km/h zone on Highway 69 near Henvey Inlet. The vehicle was also determined to be uninsured.

As a result of the investigation, a 20-year-old person from Sudbury was charged with:

• Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
• Obstruct plate
• Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit

The passenger and owner of the vehicle was also charged with:

• Permit motor vehicle to be operated without insurance

Minutes later, officers stopped another vehicle travelling 168 km/h in the same posted 110 km/h zone on Highway 69 near Henvey Inlet after it passed the initial traffic stop and came into close proximity to an officer outside of the stopped vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old person from Sudbury was charged with:

• Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
• Careless driving
• Fail to slow down or move over for an emergency vehicle

Both drivers were issued 30-day driver’s licence suspensions, and both vehicles were impounded for 14 days. All accused were issued Provincial Offence Summons and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on March 17, 2026.

OPP remind motorists that excessive speed significantly increases the risk of serious collisions and that drivers must slow down and move over, where safe to do so, when approaching stopped emergency vehicles.

Keelan Keeshig, 33 years-of-age of Shawanaga First Nation was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80plus)
• Operation while impaired – alcohol
• Possession of a schedule 1 substance – opioid

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on November 27, 2025. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

On October 1, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m. members of the West Parry Sound OPP were dispatched to a report of a collision involving multiple vehicles on Highway 69 near Woods Road in Carling Township. Several people were brought to a Parry Sound area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and others were treated at the scene.

Albert Veenstra, 54 years-of-age of Drayton Ontario was charged with careless driving.

The highway was closed for several hours during the investigation and clean up and has since reopened.

• Driving a motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on November 6, 2025. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
