Haliburton Highlands OPP made an arrest of a wanted person during a routine traffic stop, resulting in multiple weapon and drug related charges.
On February 15, 2024 shortly after 10:00 pm, members from both the Haliburton Highlands and Kawartha Lakes Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachments conducted a traffic stop in the Norland area. During the stop, it was determined that the vehicle passenger was wanted on outstanding warrants. Through investigation, numerous other offences were discovered..
As a result, Steven Norman, (age 44) of Minden, has been arrested and charged with:
· Possession of a Schedule I Substance (5 counts)
· Possession of a Schedule III Substance
· Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order (10 counts)
· Unauthorized Possession of Weapon (2 counts)
· Possession of a Credit Card obtained by the commission of an offence.
· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
· Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking (5 counts)
· Possession of a Schedule III Substance for the purpose of Trafficking
This person was held for a bail hearing.
