Search Efforts Resume For Woman Missing After Boat Collision

Search efforts have resumed this morning for a woman who went missing after a boat collision that took the life of a 13-year-old and left four others injured.

Bracebridge OPP officers were dispatched to a two vessel boating collision on July 14 at 7:40 p.m. on Lake Rosseau near Windermere Marina after receiving multiple 9-1-1 calls from members of the public. Witnesses described seeing several people in the water after the collision. Officers, along with Muskoka Paramedics, Muskoka Lakes Fire Department, the OPP Marine Unit, the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) and the OPP Aviation Unit responded.

A total of six people were on board the two vessels at the time of the collision and four were rescued from the water and rushed to hospital with injuries. Three of the injured have since been released from hospital and one was airlifted to a Toronto area hospital where they are being treated for life-threatening injuries.

Unfortunately, a 13 year-old youth from Toronto was confirmed deceased at the scene.

Search efforts resumed this morning to locate a 51 year-old woman from Oakville.

The investigation is ongoing and more details will be released as they become available.
