This winter, The Huntsville Festival of the Arts (HfA) is thrilled to offer three enriching educational programs geared toward local youth: Huntsville Festival of Music, Disco Ducks, and HFA March Break Camp.
Huntsville Festival of Music: Modeled on the Kiwanis Music Festival’s mission to “encourage young and all age groups to know and love the arts and foster the values of self-discipline, teamwork and excellence”, the festival will take place March 2-5, 2023. The festival will consist of competitive and non-competitive classes taking place on March 2 & 3. Participants will perform and receive coaching led by qualified adjudicators/teachers and will be awarded with a participation certificate or an award certificate for the top three marks.
There will also be an opportunity to perform on the stage of Algonquin Theatre on March 5, 2023, for the gala concert ‘Concert of the Stars’. Participants for this event will be chosen on merit (winner of each class) and special consideration. The Huntsville Festival of Music is open to all age groups and will include musical categories in Piano, solo/duet Instrumental, solo Voice, Choral, and Composition classes with genres ranging from Classical to Contemporary. Participants from the districts of Muskoka and Parry Sound are encouraged to register at www.huntsvillefestival.ca. Deadline for registration is December 4, 2022
Disco Ducks is a fun and friendly environment for caregivers and tots ages 0 to 4 years to socialize and explore music and movement. In each class you will experience instruments, guitar sing -a-long, rhythm and rhyme play, lots of group boogie! (with babe in arms or by your side) Disco Ducks runs Wednesdays at 10am from January 11-march 8 (9 sessions) at the HfA Studio, 58 Main St. E (entrance across from River Mill Park beside the Mill on Main)

HfA March Break Drama Camp: Myths & Monsters: Join us for a fun filled week of theatre fun on the big stage of the Algonquin Theatre! In this creative camp for ages 7-12, youth will explore different myths and folklore from around the world as well as creating their own monster myths! Activities include improv, games & songs leading up to an original performance at the end of the week. Camp programs will take place at Algonquin Theatre from March 13-17 from 8:30am-4:30pm. Registration fee: $225+HST
