After making initial contact with the driver, officers entered into an impaired driving investigation and the driver was required to submit to roadside alcohol screening. The driver registered a “FAIL” and was arrested for impaired driving.

After subsequent testing at the detachment, a 17-year-old from the Township of Oro-Medonte, who cannot be named due to the provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – 80+
  • Possession of forged document

The accused has been released and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date. Until then, they face a 90-day drivers licence suspension and a 7-day vehicle impoundment.

The OPP remains committed to taking alcohol & drug-impaired drivers off our roads through enforcement and public education. If you suspect someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, please call 9-1-1 to report it.
