The Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged an Oro-Medonte resident with impaired driving following a collision, as stated in a press release issued yesterday.

OPP, Simcoe County Paramedics, Oro-Medonte Fire and Hydro One responded to reports of a single vehicle that had struck a hydro pole on Line 12 South in Oro-Medonte Township yesterday at about 2:40 pm. It was also reported that the driver, who appeared intoxicated, suffered minor injuries and was attempting to exit their vehicle when authorities arrived.

Upon further investigations, it was determined that the individual who was operating the motor vehicle was intoxicated by alcohol. The individual was arrested and remained in police custody while being transferred to an Orillia Hospital by ambulance.
In connection with this incident, 66-year-old Kimberly Tyson, from Oro-Medonte Township, has been charged with operation while impaired alcohol and operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia in March 2024 to answer the charges. As a result of these charges, her driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days, and her vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
