Orillia Resident Charged With Aggravated Assault

The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one individual after an incident involving aggravated assault in Orillia.

On June 7, 2024, at approximately 1:30 a.m., the Orillia OPP received a call regarding a dispute on Albert Street North between two individuals. The victim was transported to the hospital by EMS with life-threatening injuries, then airlifted by ORNGE Air to a hospital in Toronto and is now in stable condition.

The police located the accused, who was driving while impaired. During the investigation, a minor collision occurred between the accused’s vehicle and a police cruiser. The accused was taken into custody without further incident.

As a result, a 43-year-old male from Orillia was arrested and charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Dangerous operation
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent

The accused was held for Bail.
