Driver Registers In Excess of Three Times the Legal Limit

In response to a driving complaint involving a blue Mazda in the Midland area called into the Ontario Provincial Police Communication Centre near 12:34 a.m. February 25, 2024, an officer from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment located the suspect vehicle parked in the driveway of an Hugel Avenue, Midland residence. The officer approached the running vehicle and found the lone driver passed out behind the steering wheel and when awoken by the officer, was confused and disoriented and found himself quickly in police custody and under investigation for impaired driving.

With investigative breath tests registering over three times the legal amount, a 46 year old Midland man has been charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol and further with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and later released after sobering up at the police station.

The accused was served a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date along with the involved vehicle being towed and impounded for seven days in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

OPP patrol officers conducted 13 different Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) check stops over the February 22-26, 2024 time period checking over 260 drivers for signs of impairment.
