$200 million Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund supporting economic growth and building healthier communities
The Ontario government is investing $500,000 to protect jobs and revitalize Croft Recreation Park in Ahmic Harbour. This investment is part of the province’s $200 million Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund (CSRIF), a provincewide initiative that helps communities revitalize local facilities, grow the economy and promote active, healthy living across Ontario.
“Our government continues to support municipalities to provide spaces where their residents can get active,” said Graydon Smith, MPP for Parry Sound-Muskoka. “This project will enhance recreational activities at the park to ensure that there is something for everyone. Thank you to the Ministry of Sport for seeing the value in the project and thank you to the Municipality of Magnetawan for making it a priority for your residents.”
This project will breath new life into the park by revitalizing the baseball diamond, revamping the playground with accessible equipment and adding a skate, bike and pump park to ensure inclusive play for everyone.
“At a time when Ontario families are facing rising costs due to tariffs, our government is proud to support organizations focused on delivering better services for people while breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for children and young people,” said Neil Lumsden, Minister of Sport. “With investments in infrastructure like this, we are protecting Ontario jobs, strengthening our communities and building a more resilient and self-reliant economy.”
CSRIF is a key part of the government’s plan to protect Ontario workers, businesses and families by unleashing the economy and getting more shovels in the ground, with a historic $200 billion investment to build highways, hospitals, transit, schools and other critical infrastructure across the province.
“We are excited and thrilled to partner with the Provincial Government to bring exciting improvements to the Croft Recreational Park. This much needed investment will enhance recreational opportunities for families, youth, and visitors, while strengthening the sense of community that makes Magnetawan such a special place. By expanding facilities and improving access to green spaces we are creating a park that will serve as a hub for health, connection, family memories and enjoyment for generations to come.” – Sam Dunnett, Mayor, Municipality of Magnetawan
