Muskoka Falls Public School Grade 7 student, Teva Milner, recently organized a Cupcake Day to raise money for the local Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA).
“My mom used to work at OSPCA,” explained Milner. “The organization holds an annual cupcake day each year and my mom and I have always supported them. So I thought I would bring it to my school.”
The bake sale took place on February 16 during the school’s first nutrition break. Milner took care of all of the details for the day, including coordinating, baking, and selling cupcakes to her school community. She even had a special helper, Niles the bird, to interact with students while they were waiting to purchase a cupcake.
In total, the bake sale raised $400, which was donated to the Bracebridge OSPCA. This is yet another great example of Trillium Lakelands District School Board students showing their sense of citizenship; congratulations on a successful initiative, Milner!
