Lakeland companies keep the vast majority of its purchasing dollars in Canada
At a time when many Canadians are making a conscious effort to support domestic businesses, Lakeland Holding Ltd. is demonstrating that commitment through its own purchasing practices, with the vast majority of procurement dollars staying in Canada and most spending occurring in Ontario.
A recent review of vendor spending found that Lakeland Power sourced 100 per cent of its 2026 purchases from Canadian suppliers, while Bracebridge Generation and Lakeland Solutions sourced 99.4 per cent, Lakeland Energy (includes Lakeland Networks) sourced 87 per cent, and Lakeland Holding sourced 98 per cent from Canadian businesses. Ontario companies received the largest share of spending across the organization.
“People want to know where their dollars are going, and we’re proud to say that almost all of our spending stays in Canada,” said Chris Litschko, CEO of Lakeland Holding Ltd. “Every dollar spent with a Canadian supplier helps support jobs, businesses, and economic growth in our communities and across the country.”
The results reflect Lakeland’s Canadian Pride Purchasing Policy, which prioritizes Canadian-made products and services whenever practical while maintaining high standards for quality, reliability, sustainability, and value.
While Lakeland actively seeks Canadian suppliers whenever feasible, most spending outside Canada is associated with specialized software, cybersecurity tools, and technology platforms required to operate modern utility, telecommunications, and generation infrastructure. In many cases, suitable Canadian alternatives are not currently available.
“Whenever a Canadian option exists, we actively look for it,” added Litschko. “Our goal is to support Canadian businesses wherever possible while ensuring our customers continue to receive safe, reliable, and secure services.”
