On Sunday, Joy Jarvis will swimming 12km to raise funds and awareness for Hospice Huntsville.   This year marks the 10th year that Joy has been swimming to support the local organization.

Joy will be swimming the waters of the Muskoka River early on Sunday July 18th leaving the Town Docks in Huntsville at 7:00am and swimming out and around Centreview Island in Lake Vernon and back.  Joy expects to be swimming close to 5 hours.

“I started the swim to help an organization close to home.  When I heard about Hospice Huntsville I spoke with Dr. Deb Harrold and mentioned to her that I was wanting to fundraise for them by swimming one of the lakes in the area.

I watched Hospice Huntsville being built & I am amazed at how the swim has grown.   I continue my swim each year to help Hospice Huntsville – an organization near and dear to my heart & to fulfill my dream as well. My swims have been dreams of mine & I am grateful that I have the opportunity to do so.   To anyone who has a goal or dream in mind don’t let it pass you by – Go For It!”said Joy Jarvis

If you live along the swim route, Hospice Huntsville encourages you to decorate your dock and cheer Joy along.

“We are thrilled to be celebrating Joy’s 10th year of swimming for Hospice Huntsville.  We are grateful for Joy’s support and her dedication to raising funds and awareness for end-of-life care in our community.  Dollars raised by fundraisers like Joy’s Swim and Create  A Swim for Hospice play an important role in allowing us to serve the community with our residential hospice and our programs.” said Melissa Polischuk, Hospice Huntsville’s fund development and public relations coordinator

This year, Hospice has a $20,000 goal raising funds through Joy’s Swim for Hospice and Create A Swim for Hospice.  Create A Swim runs all summer long until September 6, 2021

If you are able to give, you can make a gift towards Joy’s 10th Annual Swim for Hospice

Every dollar raised stays in our community to directly offset operational costs of the Hospice Huntsville and allow comprehensive end-of-life care to people and their families/caregivers across the Huntsville/Lake of Bays, Almaguin Highlands region, completely free of charge.  The organization needs to raise 60% of their annual operating budget every year through fundraising events and donations.  Hospice Huntsville continues to work and ensure that all community members receive the end-of-life care they wish for.
