The Town of Gravenhurst is pleased to announce Brad Bigrigg as the interim Fire Chief of Gravenhurst Fire & Emergency Services.

Chief Bigrigg brings more than 38 years of fire service experience, beginning his career as a firefighter and has held various progressive senior management positions. Most recently, Bigrigg served as Deputy Fire Chief with the Town of Milton and prior to that various roles within the fire departments of Caledon, Chatham-Kent, and Flamborough.

Bigrigg previously worked with the Ontario’s Fire Marshal’s Office in a senior leadership role and is a Program Manager with the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs (OAFC). Bigrigg’s experience with managing fire services has given him a thorough understanding of fire protection services, including operations, training, prevention, and public education.

“I look forward to working with the Town of Gravenhurst and with the Fire Department,” said Brad Bigrigg, interim Fire Chief. “Gravenhurst has a reputation of providing excellent fire protection services and I’m excited to work with the team to continue that service to the community.”

The announcement follows the departure of former Fire Chief Larry Brassard who retired recently after a career that spanned over 45 years in fire services throughout the Province, the last eight years of which were serving as Director of Fire and Emergency Services/Fire Chief for the Town.

“We are pleased to have Chief Bigrigg take on the role while we actively recruit a new permanent Fire Chief,” said Glen Davies, Town Chief Administrative Officer. “We are looking forward to introducing Brad to our community, and to having him bring his decades of experience to leading our great team of staff and volunteers here.”

As interim Fire Chief, Brad will lead and manage overall operations of the department, including fire suppression, training, emergency management, fire prevention, and public education.
