Impaired Driver Fails To Stop At RIDE Check In Midland

A R.I.D.E. check stop on Vinden Street in Midland operated by Southern Georgian Bay OPP just after 1 a.m. on Canada Day was the scene of a driver accelerating through the check stop without stopping.

Officers were able to stop the vehicle nearby and upon speaking to the driver entered into a drinking and driving investigation. As a result of this investigation Cillist Russell, 24 years of Midland has been charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol and further with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was released on an recognizance to appear before the  Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on July 15, 2021 and is subject to a 90 day licence suspension and vehicle tow/impound under the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.
