Huntsville Youth Charged After Uttering Threat In School

The Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating after threats were made at the local Highschool.

On February 19, 2026, officers from the Huntsville OPP were made aware that a student had made a comment to several peers about wanting to cause harm.

In Partnership with the Trillium Lakelands District School Board, and the School, the OPP participated in an assessment of the student, their comments, and any potential risk.

As a result of the investigation a 14-year-old student, who cannot be named due to the provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), has been arrested and charged with uttering a threat. The youth will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge Ontario at a future date.

It is important to note this is an isolated incident and there is no concern for public safety.
