Huntsville Resident Faces Nine Charges After Fail To Remain Collision

A 30-year-old driver from Huntsville is facing multiple charges after leaving the scene of a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 11.

On May 19, 2023, at 8:45 p.m., Huntsville OPP responded to a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 11 north of Highway 60, where witnesses reported the driver fled on foot.

Members of the Huntsville OPP Detachment and Central Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) located the driver and he was taken into custody.

Further investigation revealed that the driver had been involved in an earlier altercation leading to additional charges.

As a result, a 30-year-old male from Huntsville was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus
  • Dangerous operation
  • Assault with a weapon – two counts
  • Assault
  • Uttering threats to cause death or serious bodily harm
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Fail to remain at the scene of a collision
  • Drive while under suspension

The accused was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody.

Police did not release the name of the accused to protect the victim.
