A driver has been arrested and charged with impaired driving following a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program conducted in Temiskaming Shores.
On Monday, September 14, 2026, at approximately 12:30 a.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE program on Ferguson Avenue at Broadway Street in the City of Temiskaming Shores.
Officers stopped a vehicle as part of the RIDE initiative. During the interaction with the driver, officers initiated an impaired driving investigation.
The driver was arrested and transported to the Temiskaming OPP Detachment, where further testing was conducted.
As a result of the investigation, Travis Bain, 41 years of age, of Haliburton, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on November 3, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
The vehicle was impounded for seven days and the accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days under the Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) program.
The OPP remains committed to removing alcohol/drug-impaired drivers from Ontario roads and encourages anyone who suspects an impaired driver to call 9-1-1.
