Freezing rain expected today.

Freezing rain warning continued for:
South River – Burk’s Falls,
Western Algonquin Park – Lake of Two Rivers,
Parry Sound – Muskoka,
Haliburton,

Hazard:
Freezing rain with possible ice accretion of 2 to 4 mm, especially over higher terrain.

Timing:
This afternoon or evening and ending overnight.

Discussion:
Precipitation is forecast to begin early this afternoon. This precipitation will likely begin as snow, ice pellets or freezing rain but will quickly transition to a period of freezing rain in the late afternoon or evening. Two to four hours of freezing rain will be possible before temperatures rise above zero degrees Celsius and the precipitation comes to an end overnight.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break. Utility outages may occur.

Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.
