Officers of the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver and a passenger with numerous offences after a traffic stop resulted in the seizure of a firearm.
On Saturday August 8th, 2026, around 1:40 a.m., an officer was conducting traffic enforcement in the area of Highway 11 NB near Line 10 in the Township of Oro-Medonte when they observed a motor vehicle with no rear lights illuminated. As such, a traffic stop was conducted. Through the investigation, officers located cannabis in the vehicle, leading to a further search. As a result, a loaded firearm was located, leading to both parties being arrested and charged with various offences.
Brandon Wallis, 28-years old from Oro-Medonte, is facing the following charges:
– Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition x4
– Carry firearm in a careless manner
– Carry concealed weapon
– Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
– Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo
– Unauthrozied possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
– Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
– Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid
Wallis was held in custody to appear for a bail hearing on August 8th, 2026 before the Ontario Court of Justice.
Sage Lunham, 26-years old from London, is facing the following charges:
– Novice driver – B.A.C above zero
– Drive without proper rear light – motor vehicle
– Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
– Have care or control of vehicle with cannabis readily available
– Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
– Occupant of Motor Vehicle knowing there was Firearm
– Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited or restricted weapon x2
Lunham has been released from custody with a future court date.
A loaded firearm, 13 rounds of ammunition, a knife, and several pill capsules of suspected dilaudid were located and seized by police.
