Members of the Bracebridge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a collision near Torrance in the Township of the Muskoka Lakes that has resulted in a fatality.
On Saturday, August 8, 2026, shortly after 8:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of a head-on collision involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle on Muskoka Road 169, near East Black Lake Road.
Despite lifesaving efforts from bystanders and EMS, the motorcycle rider, a 52-year-old from Lake of Bays, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the passenger vehicle did not report any injuries.
OPP Technical Collision Investigators and a Reconstructionist attended the scene to assist with the investigation.
The driver of the passenger vehicle, Janavbir Singh, a 22-year-old from Springwater Township, has been charged with:
• Dangerous operation causing death
The accused is scheduled for a Bail Hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Sunday, August 9, 2026.
Muskoka Road 169 was closed for several hours for the on-scene investigation and clean-up efforts but has since reopened. The OPP would like to thank members of the public who provided assistance at the scene.
