Emergencies can occur suddenly and without warning. Being prepared, staying informed, and knowing how to access vital information are essential first steps in emergency preparedness.
The Muskoka Emergency Response Committee (MERC) has scheduled a test of the #AlertMuskoka system, powered by Voyent Alert!, on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. This test is taking place during Emergency Preparedness Week to support the community’s readiness for actual emergencies.
Residents are urged to participate by activating their Voyent Alert! App and updating their settings. For instructions on reactivating a dormant app, visit www.muskoka.on.ca.
Those not yet registered can sign up to receive alerts via email, text message, or voice call, or by downloading the Voyent Alert! app. This service provides timely updates during emergencies, tailored specifically to your chosen locations.
Be Ready for Emergencies
Voyent Alert! is a vital communication tool during emergencies such as natural disasters, severe weather, or other local crises. The #AlertMuskoka system offers targeted alerts that include location-specific instructions and suggested evacuation routes.
This system is designed to send alerts and information if natural disasters like floods and wildfires, severe weather events, and other local emergencies that could impact safety or disrupt daily life.
- Download the Voyent Alert! app from the Apple or Google Play app stores.
- Register online at Voyent Alert Registration for email, test, or voice call alerts.
Registration is free, simple, and anonymous. If you have already downloaded the Voyent Alert! app, please check to ensure it is not dormant. Instructions for reactivating the app are available on our website at www.muskoka.on.ca
Emergency Preparedness Week
Emergency Preparedness Week is May 5 – 11, 2024. This special week is a national effort lead by Public Safety Canada, provincial and territorial emergency management organizations, Indigenous organizations, non-governmental organizations, and private sector.

About the Muskoka Emergency Response Committee (MERC)
MERC is made up representatives from Muskoka’s six area municipalities (Town of Bracebridge, Town of Gravenhurst, Town of Huntsville, Township of Muskoka Lakes, Township of Lake of Bays, Township of Georgian Bay), two First Nation Communities (Moose Deer Point and Wahta Mohawks) and the District of Muskoka. The group collaborates to protect the health and safety of residents and visitors to Muskoka in times of emergency.
