Driver Arrested For Impaired After Attending Court For The Same Charge

The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged an individual with impaired operation.

On February 1, 2024, at about 3:25 p.m., officers from Orillia OPP while on proactive patrol in the area of Highway 12 and Memorial avenue observed a driver using their cell phone while operating a motor vehicle. The vehicle was stopped by police and the driver spoken to. As a result of this interaction the driver was found to be impaired by alcohol and arrested. Upon identifying the individual, it was learned that they had earlier attended criminal court regarding a prior impaired driving offence.

As a result, a 36-year-old female, from Collingwood has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The name of the accused was not released.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia, to answer to the charges at a later date in March 2024. As a result of these charges, her driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days, and vehicle impounded for a period of 7 days.
