The Bracebridge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged another young person in Bracebridge.
On Friday, August 7, 2026 at 2:45 a.m., Bracebridge OPP officers were conducting general patrol in the town of Bracebridge in the area of Armstrong Street when they came upon two young people attempting to break into a construction vehicle parked in a commercial parking lot. Officers engaged with the young people, one of whom, a 14-year-old Bracebridge youth, was co-operative and able to have a conversation with officers about their conduct. The second, a 16-year-old Bracebridge youth, did not respond well to officers and was subsequently arrested and charged with following offenses:
- Possession of Break In Instruments
- Mischief
- Resist Peace Officer
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Being intoxicated in a public place
He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice Youth Court in Bracebridge on October 1, 2026 to answer to his charges. The identity of the accused is protected under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
