The Southern Georgian Bay OPP have recovered a stolen tractor and made an arrest within hours of the reported theft.
On March 30, 2023, just before 10 a.m., officers responded to a reported theft of a tractor at a residence on Champlain Road in the Township of Tiny. The complainant advised that around 7 a.m., an unknown male entered the property and drove off with the stolen tractor in an unknown direction.
Around noon, the stolen tractor was reported parked by a nearby gas station. Officers attended and a short time later observed the tractor drive off and enter the roadway. A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver was arrested. A search resulted in the seizure of ammunition. The initial investigation also revealed the individual had warrants out for their arrest.
As a result of the investigation, Steven Wright, 45 years of age, of Tiny Township has been charged with:
· Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
· Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
· Operation While Prohibited
