No one was home at the time, but two cats are dead after a Sunday afternoon house fire in Orillia.
Neighbours heard smoke alarms going off and called the fire department. Crews arrived to the Douglas Street home just after 12 p.m. and found smoke coming out of the home. When crews entered, they found fire and flames on the first floor.
There were no injuries reported. Damaged is estimated at $500,000. The residents have been displaced and are staying with family.
The fire department says the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
