The Muskoka Lakes Fire Department from from stations 1,3, & 4 were called early Sunday evening to a wildfire inside Hardy Lake Park along Muskoka Road 169 east of Torrance.
.Upon arrival, crews found a 400 square meter wildfire threatening the park. 14 firefighters quickly surrounded the fire with forestry hose stopping its spread. Firefighters remained on scene for the an hour soaking the ground, fully suppressing the fire in an hour.
The fire department says the cause is discarded cigarette from hiking traffic.
Early activation of 911 combined with good guidance to the fire location are the reason firefighters were successful today.There were no injuries reported. The fire danger rating remains high.
