OPP Has Charged Two People With Serious Offenses After A Traffic Stop In Muskoka Lakes

Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two people with serious offenses after a traffic stop in Muskoka Lakes Township on September 14, 2024.

On September 14, 2024, at 12:10 a.m., a Bracebridge OPP officer was conducting speed enforcement on Muskoka Road 169 near Acton Island Road in Muskoka Lakes Township and encountered a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed and the officer conducted a traffic stop. One occupant of the vehicle expressed that they required medical care, Muskoka EMS attended to assist and transported them to hospital for an unrelated and non-life-threatening condition.

Officers continued their investigation and subsequently arrested and charged 34-year-old Clayton Eisan of Port Carling, ON with the following:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Possession of Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine)
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Personation with Intent to Avoid Arrest, Prosecution or Obstruct Justice
  • Breach of Recognizance CC811
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm
  • Transport Firearm in a Careless Manner
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Possession of Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine)
  • Along with several Highway Traffic Act Offenses

 

He was held in custody and will appear next in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on September 20, 2024 to answer to his charges.

Police have also charged the occupant, 43-year-old Charity Thompson of Barrie, ON, with the following:

  • Possession of Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine)
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm
  • Transport Firearm in a Careless Manner
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order

She was held in custody and will appear next in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on September 20, 2024 to answer to her charges.
