Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) Foundation is proud to receive a gift of $10,000 on behalf of Orillia McDonald’s Restaurants, demonstrating the incredible support from our communities during McHappy Day on May 8, 2024.
The three local McDonalds restaurants in Orillia raised a total of $20,000 on McHappy Day and split the proceeds between Ronald McDonald House Charities and OSMH Foundation.
For local McDonald’s restaurant owner/operators Jason and Jennifer O’Neil, the decision to support Soldiers’ Paediatric care was simple.
“Children are the hearts of families and the hearts of communities and we’re very passionate about that so we’ll do whatever we can do to help,” said Jennifer O’Neil.
Funds raised for OSMH will support the services of the Kids Health Alliance Program (KHA) for the Hospital. The KHA enhances paediatric care by integrating and improving services, resources, and collaboration among healthcare providers for the benefit of paediatric patients, their families, and their healthcare team.
“The Kids Health Alliance Program has been instrumental in enhancing the care we provide to children in the region,” said Laura Ferris, Program Director, Surgery and Regional Women & Children, OSMH.
Having the KHA services at OSMH allows paediatric patients access to a network of partners committed to advancing excellence and expertise in paediatric care.
“It’s wraparound care for our young patients,” said Ferris. “Through this partnership, we’ve seen tangible improvements in the delivery of healthcare to children and babies closer to home.
OSMH team members volunteered at each Orillia McDonald’s location to pitch in where needed, collect donations, and thank the community for supporting the hospital and its smallest patients.
Since 2018 the Orillia McDonald’s Restaurants have raised over $51,000 in support of the Regional Women and Children’s program at OSMH through Jason and Jennifer’s charitable initiatives. These investments have helped to enhance Paediatric services for children across North Simcoe Muskoka.
“It’s in our DNA to give back to the communities that we work and play in. It’s really important to our team members that we’re giving back locally, and there’s a lot of pride for the hospital throughout our employees,” said Jason O’Neill.
