Wrong Way Driver On Hwy. 11 Charged With Impaired Driving By Drugs

On Sunday March 20, 2022 just after 1 a.m., Almaguin Highlands OPP responded to a traffic complaint of a vehicle travelling northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 11 in Strong Township.

Police stopped the southbound traffic and positioned cruiser with flashing lights. Shortly after police located the wrong way vehicle and driver.

Further investigation by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) was completed and as a result the driver, Raymond LUK, 28 years-of-age, of Scarborough Ontario was charged with:

· Operation while impaired – alcohol and drug
· Dangerous operation
· Race motor vehicle – stunt

The accused was issued a 30-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for fourteen days.

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday April 28, 2022 in Sundridge Ontario.
