Two People From Severn Face Weapons Charges

The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges for weapons offences in an investigation that occurred in Severn Township.

On February 3, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Orillia OPP officers responded to a report of two individuals with a weapon on Gray Street in Severn Township. Officers attended the scene discovered that the suspects had been firing a BB gun, damaging property, and uttering threats. The accused were immediately located and arrested by officers. Through further investigation the two suspects have also been charged for mischief where the window of a school bus had been shot with a BB gun and broken on the same street in January of this year (2024).

An 18-year-old of Severn Township was charged with:

·      Pointing a firearm

·      2 counts of Mischief

·      Possession Imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose

·      Common Nuisance – endangering life

 

A 15-year-old of Severn Township was charged with:

·      Pointing a firearm

·      2 counts of Mischief

·      Possession Imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose

·      Common Nuisance – endangering life

The accused’s will not be named due to provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
