The Town of Gravenhurst is starting its annual spring sidewalk and street sweeping program.

“Our goal is to clean all urban sidewalks and streets of sand and other debris left behind from the winter,” operations manager Caroline Kirkpatrick said.

Residents can help in the following ways:

  • Ensure your vehicle[s] do not overhang onto the road or sidewalk,
  • Keep large sports equipment, such as basketball or hockey nets, off the road and away from the curb,
  • Keep all waste recycling containers off the road,
  • Do not park vehicles on the road while street sweeping is happening,
  • Do not sweep or shovel sand and other debris into piles on the road. Street sweeping equipment is not able to remove large piles,

Please note that spring street sweeping does not include private roads.

“Our street sweeping program will run for several weeks. Updates on the program will be provided, as required,” Kirkpatrick said. “We appreciate everyone’s cooperation while the clean-up is taking place.”
