Single Vehicle Crash Into Tree Nets Washago Driver An Impaired Driving Charge

A Washago driver self reported to the OPP Communication Centre a single vehicle crash into a tree on Awenda Park Road, Tiny Township at approximately 3:09 p.m. June 8, 2024.

The investigating officer located a demolished Jeep alongside the 40 Km/hr stretch of roadway and upon speaking with the nearby driver, entered into a drinking and driving investigation.

As a result, Charles McKie 39 years was transported by Simcoe County Paramedic Services treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital and upon completion of the investigation was charged criminally with the following offences.

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on June 20, 2024, was served a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.
